TAYLORSVILLE, Utah - A water main break forced Salt Lake Community College to shut down its main campus on Redwood road Tuesday afternoon.

“I got here and everything was already flooded,” said Sara DeWitt, a pre-pharmacy student.

The break was on the east side of campus.  Water filled a parking lot deep enough to trap a pair of cars.

“It’s just saturated with mucky water,” said Craig Widowson.

Widowson said his son had driven his car to campus for an anatomy class.  About five in the afternoon, Widowson got a call letting him know the car was trapped.

“The car’s in a flood,” he said.

Crews worked into the evening to pump out the flooded parking lot.  The water appeared to have drained away from the campus buildings.
