SALT LAKE CITY – Two people are recovering after a chemical spill at the University of Utah.

The red fuming nitric acid spill at the Emma Eccles Jones Medical Research Building forced evacuations Tuesday.

According to the Salt Lake City Fire Department, two people who were injured in the third-floor lab were treated at the scene and then went to the hospital with minor injuries.

Between 100 and 150 people were evacuated from the building after the incident.
