DRAPER, Utah – A man was killed in an industrial accident at Geneva Rock in Draper Wednesday.

Police identified the deceased as 57-year-old Lee Mackay.

Draper Police confirmed the man died during an incident at Geneva Rock just off I-15 in Draper. The fatal accident occurred shortly after 1 p.m.

Officials say the man was installing an industrial chute when the equipment got stuck. The man was able to extricate the chute, but suffered a blow to the head in the process and died.

“We were saddened to hear today that one of our employees was injured and ultimately passed away in an accident on our facility,” said Dave Kallas of Geneva Rock.

Sgt. Chad Carpenter with Draper Police said they are investigating the incident and have also contacted the Mine Safety and Health Administration, which he said is the federal agency responsible for investigating such accidents.

There were no further injuries reported beyond the fatality.
