Tina Jones an empowerment coach shares her tips for how to empower your self into a better state of mind.

  • Stop telling the old story and create a new one. When stuff happens to us, we often make it mean something about us or about the world. We tell a story about it. This conclusion or judgment is what creates our upsetness.

  • Self-connection is key to stopping the chain reaction of feeling the same old way. Let go of telling the old story and ask yourself, “What am I feeling?” List your feelings.

  • Remove all judgment, conclusions, and blame. All three of these make tough emotions even more tough to manage.

  • Emotions are not good or bad. We are simply in a resourceful state or an unresourceful state. Ask yourself the question, “What is missing here, that if I were to have that it would make all the difference in the world?” This question is the key to finding a resourceful state that you do want to feel.

  • You are the producer of your internal theater. “How do you want to feel? Now, remember a time in your life what you felt that?”

  • Place a circle on the floor in front of you as a placeholder for the memory. Step into the memory circle and really feel how you felt in that memorable moment. “What do you see, hear, feel or smell?” Add images or sounds that may make the memory more significant.”

  • Create a practice or routine where you repeatedly and consistently feel the emotions that you do want to feel. Routines and rituals cause an emotional state to stick with us longer.
