WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah – Power is being restored after a 17-year-old teen fell asleep and crashed his car into a power pole in West Valley City Wednesday.

West Valley City Police said the teen crashed near 6400 W. 4100 S. before 9 a.m.

The crash left about 2,500 without power in Salt Lake County, according to Rocky Mountain Power.

Wires from the power pole sparked a small grass fire that West Valley Fire crews quickly put out.

No one was injured.

Power was expected to be restored by 11:30 a.m.

The roadway has since reopened for traffic.
