TOOELE, Utah — A suspect who police say hit his ex-girlfriend’s car then ran over her new boyfriend was arrested in Murray Sunday afternoon.

According to a probable cause statement released in Tooele County 3rd District Court, police responded to a call of a traffic accident around 4:33 p.m. Saturday.

After arriving on-scene, police learned that Kelly Andrews, 43, had intentionally caused an accident and that one of the victims of the incident was his ex-girlfriend.

Andrew’s ex-girlfriend told police that he had intentionally hit her vehicle, causing an accident. The victim’s new boyfriend got out of the vehicle after it was hit, and, “Mr. Andrews ran him over intentionally,” the probable cause statement said.

The victim who had been allegedly run over by Andrews was taken to a hospital with serious but not life-threatening injuries that included broken bones.

Following the incident, police said Andrews drove away in the car, which was said to be stolen from Salt Lake City.

“Officers attempted to look for Mr. Andrews without being able to locate him,” the probable cause statement said. “Mr. Andrews continued to send messages to the victim telling her that he wanted to know where they were so he could ‘finish this’.”

Police said that on Sunday, Andrews was located in Murray City where he was taken into custody. Police said he was found to be in possession of methamphetamine and a glass pipe.

Andrews was booked into Tooele County Jail and was charged with aggravated assault, receive or transfer stolen vehicle, possession or use of a controlled substance and use or possession of drug paraphernalia.
