A quick-hitting storm is on its way to Utah, with the the northern part of the state expected to see snow starting Saturday night.

The National Weather service said a cold front with a band of heavy snow is hitting Idaho as of about 5:40 p.m., and that snow is expected to reach the northern Wasatch Front between 10 and 11 p.m. and the central Wasatch between 11 and midnight.

Forecasters say the snow will stick "efficiently" to roadways through the overnight hours due to the cold temperatures and winter conditions.

Central and southern Utah should start seeing snow overnight Saturday into Sunday.

Snowfall from this storm is expected to taper off Sunday morning, potentially lingering through noon in some mountainous areas.

The I-15 corridor from Idaho to Cedar City could see 1 to 4 inches of snow; the mountains could get 5 to 10 inches.

More winter weather is expected Monday night into Tuesday morning and could affect the morning commute.
