CACHE COUNTY, Utah – A mother and her infant son were taken to a hospital with minor injuries after a car crashed into a school bus in the Richmond/Lewiston area Thursday.

The crash occurred at 11600 North and US-91 shortly after 4 p.m. Thursday.

Trooper Kent Goodrich of the Utah Highway Patrol said a school bus from the Cache School District was carrying about 20 students, who ranged in ages from 8 to 11.

The bus was on the west side of the highway and went to cross to the east side when a white Ford Mustang traveling northbound collided with the bus.

The 17-year-old woman driving the Mustang and her 1-year-old son suffered minor injuries and were taken to a hospital to be evaluated. Two students on the school bus were also taken to a hospital with minor injuries described as minor cuts.

Police are still investigating to determine what caused the crash and who may be at fault.

“At the time of the crash it was snowing quite heavily, so that may have been a factor, but we still need to talk to our school bus driver,” Goodrich said.
