WEST JORDAN, Utah -- West Jordan Police are investigating the kidnapping of a teenage girl after a young boy said he witnessed the abduction at an apartment complex at 3591 Serenity View Drive.

The 10-year-old boy told detectives an adult male in a black van grabbed the teenager and forced her into the passenger side of the vehicle.

“There was some type of physical struggle and it was apparent she didn’t want to get into the van and she was being forced into the van by the adult,” said Sgt. J.C. Holt, West Jordan Police Department.

The witness said the abductor was talking to another man in a white car before the abduction. The man in the white car followed the black van when it left.

Police say they do not have enough descriptive information to issue an AMBER Alert, but they do have enough to seek the public’s help.

“We don’t have a lot of information and we’re just getting this out to the public to see if it matches anything in your family or a situation you are aware of to call us and let us know that so we can get some resolve with this case,” Holt said.

They have been checking the neighborhood to see if anyone is missing, and as of Thursday afternoon the case is being treated as a child abduction.

“Our concern obviously is when we hear information is that a child has been taken against their will by a stranger that they don’t know of, even if it’s someone who’s not a stranger, what if it’s a family member who is not supposed to have that child,” said Holt. “We’re concerned about that, or it could a kid having behavioral issues with a parent or another relative and maybe didn’t want to go to school or something of the sort. We just don’t know.”
