WEST JORDAN, Utah - West Jordan Police are investigating a homicide after a 22-year-old man was found dead in the street near 6700 S. 4800 W.

Wednesday afternoon, police identified the deceased as Dan Zuniga-Guzman.

Police said residents heard some commotion involving vehicles in the street at about 1:30 a.m. and then the cars drove off.

Afterward, witnesses found the victim in the street.

Initially police said they thought he might have been the victim of an auto-pedestrian accident.

They quickly learned they had a much more serious crime to investigate.

"He was left in the middle of the street," West Jordan Police Det. J. C. Holt said. "We think he was probably dropped off there in a vehicle. He has some traumatic injuries. Our investigators are on scene right now trying to figure out the extent of those injuries that resulted in his death."

First responders determined he had died but did not say if he had been shot, stabbed or beaten.

Detectives said the victim had been dumped close to his own home.

West Jordan Police said they would like to hear from anyone with information at (801) 840-4000.
