SALT LAKE CITY —  A Salt Lake City home sustained thousands of dollars in damage caused by a fire early Friday morning.

Firefighters were dispatched to 325 E Roosevelt Ave. at 6:16 a.m.

When fire crews arrived, they found three people living at the home had already evacuated themselves, according to the Salt Lake City Fire Department.

Paramedics with the SLCFD treated one of those people for mild smoke inhalation. The fire is believed to have started in a bathroom, then spread to the attic and roof. The cause is under investigation. Damage is estimated at $10,000.

“Families can prepare for these types of emergencies by making a family, home-evacuation plan. It’s important to prepare at least two ways out of your home in case something like this happens.” said Salt Lake City Fire Public Information Officer Audra Sorensen in a statement sent to FOX 13.
