EAGLE MOUNTAIN, Utah — An Eagle Mountain man suffered multiple stab wounds Tuesday, and Utah County Sheriff’s Office officials said the perpetrator was the man’s younger brother.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, a 16-year-old boy stabbed his brother for assaulting their 14-year-old sister.

The stabbing victim suffered five wounds in his arm, chest and upper back, a statement from the Sheriff’s Office said.

The 18-year-old was taken by helicopter to Intermountain Medical Center.

“He was in critical condition at that time but it is reported that his injuries are not life threatening,” a statement from the Sheriff’s Office said.

The 16-year-old was arrested and taken to Slate Canyon Youth Detention in Provo. He faces one count of aggravated assault, a second-degree felony.

The 18-year-old also faces a class A misdemeanor charge of child abuse for the alleged assault on his sister.
