SALT LAKE CITY — A gunshot was fired Friday morning at the Ballpark TRAX station on 1300 S in Salt Lake City.

Utah Transit Authority Police said they received reports the suspect was acting erratically before the shot was fired.

“People said he was throwing clothes in the air. And then, all of a sudden, he had this gun and then he fired the one shot straight up,” said UTA spokesman Remi Barron. “Nobody was injured. We’re thankful for that, obviously. He apparently dropped the gun. He took off to the south and he didn’t even get off our platform, I believe before he was arrested.”

Salt Lake City Police arrested the man, who was then taken to the UTA Police station for questioning.

UTA stopped TRAX service briefly to gather evidence, causing delays of 30-40 minutes.

Barron said the suspect faces several charges.
