ANTELOPE ISLAND STATE PARK — Friday’s weather conditions created a somewhat unusual sight at the Great Salt Lake, as strong winds and colder temperatures created sheets of moving ice that collected along the shore.

Antelope Island State Park posted the footage, which was shared more than 2,000 times Saturday and viewed more than 130,000 times.

The state park says strong winds pushed ice from Farmington Bay up against a causeway. Fresh water that flows from the Jordan River freezes on top of the saltier water below, creating the unusual piles of ice that appear to grow on their own.
