JUAB COUNTY, Utah — A driver who fled from police on I-15 in Juab County was killed in a rollover crash, and I-15 is closed in both directions near Yuba Lake State Park.

Utah Department of Public Safety officials identified him as 21-year-old Kaden Christen, of Orem.

According to the Utah Highway Patrol, it began at about 5 p.m. Saturday when a trooper attempted to stop a vehicle for a traffic violation on I-15 near mile post 207.

DPS officials said Christen fled north at a high rate of speed, and about 10 miles up the road he lost control and the vehicle rolled through the center median and came to rest in the southbound travel lanes.

Christen was killed in the crash, and a female passenger was taken to a local hospital in poor condition.

I-15 was closed in both directions near the crash, and traffic was diverted off at the freeway at mile post 222, where it was routed onto State Route 28, then onto State Route 78 and back onto I-15 at mile post 208. Northbound traffic followed the same route but in reverse.

It is unclear why the driver fled, and that individual has not yet been identified.
