CACHE COUNTY, Utah — A judge denied bail to a former Utah State University football player facing charges of rape and aggravated kidnapping.

The judge made the decision during a Tuesday afternoon bail hearing in First District Court. Torrey Green, who was waived by the Atlanta Falcons amid the allegations of sexual assault, has been charged with seven counts of rape.

The reported rapes occurred over a three-year period involving several victims. The first alleged assault occurred in November of 2013 and the latest occurred in January of this year.

Green continues to assert his innocence in the allegations, said the 23-year-old man’s defense attorney Skye Lazaro.

Lazaro said Green’s family is sad that he wasn’t released.

“He’s very close with his family so it’s been hard on all of them, but they’ve remained supportive,” she said.

No plea agreement has been discussed with prosecutors and a preliminary hearing is scheduled for March.
