TOOELE, Utah — A Tooele High School instructor has been booked into the Tooele County Jail after a student told detectives she had been sexually abused.

According to a news release from Tooele police, 32-year-old Brian Dragon was not an employee of the Tooele County School District, but part of the US Army's Students Taking Active Roles (STAR ) program, which provided him as an instructor at Tooele High.

The news release said a student came forward and reported suspicious behavior by Dragon, prompting the school's principal to contact the Tooele High resource officer on Friday. The resource officer then consulted with Tooele detectives.  A probable cause statement indicates the investigation began after a student reported to school officials that Dragon would routinely lock the door to a portable classroom with a 17-year-old female student inside with him.

The alleged victim told investigators that she and Dragon were in the classroom alone on several occasions, that Dragon had touched her breasts and that they had sex three times in an office area of the classroom.

Dragon was arrested Saturday and booked on three counts of unlawful sexual conduct with a 16- or 17-year-old. Police are conducting further reviews of the evidence in this case and they will screen charges of rape against Dragon with the Tooele County Attorney's Office.

"At this time, no additional victims have been discovered however, this case remains an ongoing investigation and we are continuing to work with the Tooele County School District and the Tooele County Attorney’s Office," the news release said.
