KEARNS, Utah -- A 14-year-old girl was injured Tuesday near Kearns High School as classes were letting out for the day after two cars collided and one of the vehicles moved onto the sidewalk.

Police said the crash near 5400 South Cougar Lane happened around 2:20 p.m. and involved a black sedan and a white truck.

One of the vehicles may have run a red light, and the impact of the resulting crash sent the truck onto a sidewalk, where the 14-year-old girl was standing.

The girl was initially reported to be in serious condition, but officials said later that, while she is hurt, she is in stable condition and is expected to recover.
