Police seek public’s help in locating potential witness in weekend shooting

SALT LAKE CITY — Authorities are looking for a possible witness in a suspected murder that occurred over the weekend.

Leroy Daniel Valdez, 34, has been charged with the murder of 33-year-old Kenonren Goodman after he was found shot in the head on Nov. 26. Salt Lake City police say a confrontation at Valdez’s apartment near 1329 N. Redwood Road between to the men led to the 34-year-old shooting and killing the victim.

Authorities are now looking for 24-year-old Astacia Felice Carter. Robin Heiden with Salt Lake City police said detectives believe she was present at the time of the incident and would like to ask her a few questions.

Carter is a Hispanic woman with brown hair and eyes. She is described as being five feet one inch tall and weighs 140 pounds.
