PROVO, Utah — BYU quarterback Taysom Hill suffered a strain injury in his left elbow Saturday, and the school’s athletics department announced Monday that the injury will prevent his participation in the Poinsettia Bowl next month.

Hill was injured in a game against the Utah State University Aggies in Provo, and BYU coach Kalani Sitake later announced that Hill had hyper-extended his elbow. Hill was given an MRI and further evaluation, but he was found unfit for the bowl game.

The Poinsettia Bowl is scheduled for December 21 at Qualcomm Stadium in San Diego. BYU’s opponent has yet to be decided.
