Debbie and Scott Hansen created Heroes For Families, in memory of their daughter, Carissa, who died May 21, 2006, following a five-year battle with a brain tumor. She was 17 years old when she passed. Heroes for Families is a 501 c 3 non-profit organization that helps families in our community that have children battling cancer or other serious illnesses. Each year they search for a family that is in need of help and then host a Super Hero 5K Run / 2 mile Walk event on their behalf. This is a fun activity that families and individuals can come out and participate in and at the same time help support members of our community. The next event will be in October 2017. If you would like to help out before then go to heroesforfamilies.org to donate. They also have a facebook page.
