LOGAN, Utah — A former Utah State University football player who was waived by the Atlanta Falcons amid allegations of sexual assault has now been charged with two additional counts of rape, bringing the total number of cases against the man to seven.

According to a press release from the Cache County Attorney’s Office, the new charges were filed Friday after two separate women came forward with allegations of sexual assault against Green.

“The County Attorney’s  Office is committed to protecting victims of sexual assault and assisting them through the healing process, ” Cache County Attorney James Swink stated. “We encourage the reporting of sexual assault to law enforcement but, respect the right of victims to decide whether or not to go forward with prosecution. When sufficient evidence exists to pursue prosecution, the County Attorneys offices uses all available resources to hold the perpetrators accountable.”

The release states that earlier this year, eight original cases were screened and five of those cases were filed on October 6. Three of the original eight cases were declined due to a lack of evidence or an unwillingness on the part of the alleged victims to prosecute.

After the October 6 charges were filed another six complaints were received, the press release states. Two of those complaints resulted in the new charges filed Friday, while two other cases remain under investigation. The final two complaints were declined due to evidence issues or an unwillingness by the alleged victim to prosecute.

A pre-trial conference and bail hearing for Green is scheduled for December 13 at 10 a.m.
