WEST VALLEY CITY — A man was charged with murder Friday in connection with the death of a woman he allegedly strangled and then abandoned unconscious in a car in West Valley City in October.

Police responding to anonymous 911 call found 24-year-old Nisha Fnu seriously injured and unresponsive in the back of a vehicle in the area of 4100 South and 6000 West on October 16.

The woman’s condition deteriorated and on October 29 medical care was withdrawn, and the woman died Friday morning. Jeffrey Larson, 29 of Magna, originally faced attempted homicide charges in the case, but Friday he was charged with first-degree murder along with obstruction of justice.

According to charging documents, Larson was located after police followed up on an anonymous 911 call. The man told officers post-Miranda that he and Fnu got into a car in a Smith’s parking lot at 5620 West 4100 South on the night of October 15 and began arguing then physically fighting.

Larson said he grabbed the woman by the neck two times, and he said at one point her eyes rolled back in her head and she appeared to suffer a seizure. The man said he tried and failed to revive the woman, and at that point he knew she “was in bad shape.”

The suspect told police he drove to West View Park, then went back for Fnu’s vehicle and drove it to the same location. He left the area after moving the woman’s body from his vehicle to hers.
