WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah – A car crashed into a power pole in West Valley City and took down power lines Friday morning.

Officers said a 35-year-old man was the only person in the car when he crashed near 3200 W. 2700 S.

The driver was able to get out of the car on his own and was taken to the hospital to be checked out.

Authorities said they don’t believe alcohol was a factor but said something else found in the vehicle may have been involved.

Police would not say what they found in the vehicle.

Power crews are working to repair the power line.
