Mt. Pleasant man found dead in shallow grave in south Utah County

UTAH COUNTY, Utah — Authorities are investigating a homicide after a Mt. Pleasant man’s body was found in a shallow grave last week.

On Oct. 20, hunters discovered what appeared to be a partially dug grave in south Utah County near the Sanpete County border. According to a press release from Utah County Sheriff’s Office, human remains were found in the spot covered by a thin layer of dirt.

Through dental records, the victim was identified as Wesley Dee Nay, 22, who was reported missing by family and friends to Mt. Pleasant police on Sept. 18.

Nay’s body has been sent to the medical examiner’s office in Salt Lake City. However, authorities are still trying to determine the cause of death.

The sheriff’s office is working with Mt. Pleasant police and Sanpete County Sheriff’s Office while investigating this case.

Authorities are investigating it as a homicide.
