MURRAY, Utah -- A Murray mother is feeling gratitude, anger and confusion after she says a motorist took her 16-year-old son to a hospital and left him on an outside bench after hitting him in a crosswalk Monday morning.

Isaac Villalpanzo was walking to school when he was struck by a white minivan at the intersection of Vine Street and Murray Boulevard.

“I just saw there were lights from the rain and as soon as I turned my head I saw the car was there,” Isaac said.

Issac jumped onto the hood of the vehicle as it hit him.

“When I hit the ground I didn’t know if he was going to stop or not so I tried to hurry and get up and get to the sidewalk but the pain was too much so I took a couple steps and fell back down,” Isaac said.

The driver rushed to help the teen. He never called police.

“Next thing I know he just kinda picked me up and walked me to his car and I was in too much pain to fight him,” Isaac said.

The man took Isaac to the parking lot of the Intermountain Medical Center and left him on an outside bench.

“He just dropped me off and drove away,” Isaac said.

Isaac’s mother, Amber Alvarado felt a wave of emotions after hearing what happened.

“I’m grateful and upset at the same time because he could have left him there, he could have got hit again, it could have been so much worse,” Alvarado said.

Police say since the man didn't leave a number or insurance it's considered a hit-and-run.

“His best bet in the entire thing was to call police and the paramedics and we would have handled the accident thing for him and taken care of the kid too,” said Officer Kenny Bass, Murray City Police Department.

After x-rays and CT scans, Isaac walked away with minor injuries.

“He’s my son and I couldn’t handle if anything would happen to him,” Alvarado said with tears in her eyes.

“Even the doctors and police officers said it could have been a lot worse,” Isaac said.

The teen is asking the driver to come forward and deal with the consequences so it “doesn’t escalate and get worse.”

No surveillance caught the hit-and-run. Police are looking for a 1990s model white minivan. The driver is described as medium height, brown skin, accent and wearing a baseball cap.
