SALT LAKE CITY - An 18-year-old man is in critical condition after being shot at least once during a shooting between two traveling vehicles on State Route 201 Tuesday evening.

The incident occurred just before 5 p.m. when the cars' occupants, traveling on S.R. 201 near 3800 West, began shooting at each other, according to Marissa Villasenor with Utah Highway Patrol.

The altercation between the two groups eventually ended in a crash. When officers arrived on scene they found two vehicles damaged and are currently looking for a third vehicle suspected to be involved.

Police say the suspected vehicle is a red Mazda or Honda and was last seen full of occupants and traveling west on the highway.

Authorities believe the incident is gang related.
