ORANGEVILLE, Utah – The Emery County Sheriff’s Office is warning residents about a mountain lion spotting.

Deputies said the animal was first spotted early Tuesday morning and then again Sunday evening.

Wade Paskett, wildlife biologist with the Division of Wildlife Resources, said the DWR is monitoring the situation.

After the second sighting, officials said they are concerned the lion is hanging around town, which is not normal behavior.

DWR authorities are urging residents to use extreme caution, especially in the early morning and evening hours.

Deputies are telling parents not to let children play in the creek near Welcome Park.
