PROVO, Utah - UCLA quarterback Josh Rosen threw for 307 yards resulting in two touchdowns, which led to the Bruins' win over BYU by 17-14 on Saturday night in Provo.

After scoring 18 points in a win against Arizona, and 19 points in a loss to Utah, BYU was hoping their offense would have a breakout game against UCLA. But it turned out to be another tough game for offensive coordinator Ty Detmer and the Cougars’ offense. BYU was shutout in the first half after picking up just four first downs, and they finished the game with just 23 rushing yards.

BYU’s offense did play better in the second half. Jamaal Williams put the Cougars on the scoreboard with a short touchdown run in the third quarter to cut UCLA’s lead to 17-3. BYU added a late score in the fourth quarter when Taysom Hill found Nick Kurtz for a 23-yard touchdown pass.

“We’ve got to start clicking offensively, because we are able to do it in some drives,” said BYU head coach Kalani Sitake. “We ended the game the right way driving down and scoring, but it’s a little too late. We’ve got to starting doing that throughout the game. We need to be able to sustain that and be more consistent.”
