So you’re strolling down the aisle at the grocery store and you come across sugarless ice cream and think, “this has to be healthier than regular ice cream." Wrong! Just because it’s sugar-free, doesn’t mean it’s healthy.

Here are some “healthy” foods nutritionists say you should stay away from, according to Health.com.

Powdered peanut butter

People think that because powdered peanut butter has fewer calories and less fat that it has to be healthier. Not necessarily. One of the best things about peanut butter is that it’s loaded with healthy fats, so stick to the real thing.

Whole wheat bread

This one gets people every time. The glycemic index for whole wheat bread is 69 which means that it’ll cause extreme spikes in blood sugar levels. This leads to other health problems, like gaining weight.

Cold-pressed juices

These juices contain a lot of fruits and vegetables, but they also have an extremely high amount of sugar. On top of that, the juicing process destroys a lot of the beneficial fiber in produce.

Sugar-free or "no sugar added" ice cream

The sugarless or light ice creams might not contain sugar but can have up to 18 additional ingredients that are added to replace sugar. Many times they contain an artificial sweetener that can produce a laxative effect. Just go with the real thing, it’ll be more satisfying and better for your health and digestive system.

Next time you’re grocery shopping maybe pass up those healthy gimmicks and just get the real stuff.
