PAYSON, Utah – Two people are in critical condition are a after two-car crash in Payson Monday afternoon.

At about 2 p.m., the driver of an SUV attempted to make a left turn at the intersection of 1270 West and 800 South. Authorities say the driver ran a red light and broad-sided a mini-van causing it to roll.

A 14-year-old girl was ejected from the van and another had to extricated from the vehicle, according to a Facebook post from Payson Fire Rescue.

The two were taken to Mountain View Hospital in critical condition but are expected to survive.

There were two other people who suffered minor injuries in the accident and were taken to the hospital as a precaution. Authorities didn’t specify which vehicle they were occupying at the time of the crash.

Police say the driver of the SUV will be cited for failing to stop at the red light.
