Janet Buhler, from the Fashion Institute at Salt Lake Community College, shared some helpful tips in discovering your body type and the best ways to flatter it.

3 Questions to determine your body shape:
1. Which is narrower, your shoulders or your hips?

2. Is your waist well-defined?

3. Do you have a full bust and rounded stomach?

Apple shape: A-line is a good style. Don`t draw attention to the waistline. Don`t wear belted styles . Wear clothes that are loose around the midsection. Slim cut pants. Empire waistline

Rectangle (athletic) shape: Look for styles that use draping or gathering to give the idea of curves. A-line. Avoid empire waist.

Pear shape: Fit and flare. This style will show your slender upper body while minimizing the size of your hips.

Inverted triangle shape: A-line skirts or dresses will help balance the broad shoulder to hip ratio. Tailored jackets. Boatneck tops.

Hour glass shape: Wear style like shirt dresses that compliment the waistline. High waist pants. Wrap dresses. Avoid boxy styles like oversize cardigans.
