How to ease first day of school fears

Holly Bell, Counselor with Jordan School District, shared a few tips for parents and kids as the new school year begins.

  • Realize that fear and nerves can be a good thing.
  • Celebrate the first day of school in some way so the kids have something to look forward to.
  • Prepare the night before, not the morning of the first day.
  • Talk about what could go wrong and what could go right during their day at school.
  • Encourage courage to make friends.
