COTTONWOOD HEIGHTS, Utah — A woman involved in a fatal crash on Highland Drive Thursday is facing charges that include automobile homicide negligence by DUI.

Sally Hall Sturtevant was booked into jail on the above charge as well as a charge of DUI with serious bodily injury.

The crash occurred Thursday on Highland Drive near 6950 South, and according to a statement of probable cause Sturtevant was traveling northbound when she merged into the center turn lane and then turned in front of a southbound motorcycle, which impacted the car at a high rate of speed.

The man on the motorcycle was pronounced dead at the scene. He was later identified as 43-year-old Rodney Russell.

Police said they noticed the odor of alcohol was coming from the woman’s car, and Sturtevant allegedly told police she had been drinking. The woman was arrested and booked into jail. A breathalyzer test indicated a blood alcohol content of 0.097. The legal limit in Utah is 0.08.
