SOUTH SALT LAKE, Utah -- Two suspects in a bank robbery were arrested Friday after a police pursuit, and at one point a suspect was driving the wrong way on Redwood Road and struck another vehicle head-on.

The suspects allegedly robbed a US Bank near 2700 South and 300 West in South Salt Lake Friday, and one of the suspects displayed a handgun during the robbery.

Police pursued the pair, and they ditched their original vehicle, but one suspect got into another vehicle and fled.

Officer Mitch Howard of the South Salt Lake Police Department said that suspect fled the wrong way on Redwood Road and struck another car head-on near I-80. That suspect was taken into custody.

"They were willing to do everything and anything to escape," he said.

The suspect and the woman driving the other vehicle were sent to a hospital with injuries not described as being life-threatening.

"It could have been much worse," Howard said. "Very thankful for the fact. You hate to see anyone get injured in this, but unfortunately...he was going to opposite direction in oncoming traffic, and we hope for a quick recovery for the person involved."

The other suspect was captured nearby at 1100 West Indiana Ave.

FOX 13 News has a crew at the scene and has reached out to police for more information, and we will update this story as more details emerge.
