UTAH COUNTY — A former school bus driver accused of driving under the influence while she had children aboard her school bus has been sentenced to 20 days in jail and a fine of nearly $2,000.

Sherry Lee Lund, 52, pleaded guilty to DUI and two counts of reckless endangerment, all class A misdemeanors, and in exchange three additional counts of reckless endangerment were dismissed.

Court records show Lund will be on probation for 18 months and is ordered to serve 20 days in jail. She is also ordered to pay a fine of $1,950, but a portion of that amount can be reduced upon completion of treatment at a recovery center.

Lund is also ordered not to consume alcohol nor frequent establishments or events where alcohol is the chief item of order. She will also have to install an interlock ignition device on her vehicle within 30 days.

Alpine School District confirmed Lund was no longer an employee of the district shortly after she was cited earlier this year.

“We’re deeply disappointed that something like this would happen,” David Stephenson of the Alpine School District said in March. “We obviously have drug and alcohol policies in place and obviously this employee acted outside of those policies.”
