SUMMIT COUNTY, Utah — A fire is burning on about 20 acres near Oakley Thursday night, and several hikers in the area are being airlifted from the area as a safety precaution.

Loyal Clark of the U.S. Forest Service said the Box Canyon Fire is an estimated 20 acres in size and is burning near the Smith and Morehouse Reservoir.

Four groups of hikers on trails in the area were about a mile from the fire and were not in any danger, but air resources were used to lift them from the area as a safety precaution.

The fire is burning in a rural area, and no structures are threatened. FOX 13 News will have more information as it becomes available.
