SALT LAKE CITY -- The smoke from fires in Utah and surrounding states have caused a summer-time inversion in the Salt Lake Valley.
Local emergency room physician from St. Mark's Hospital Dr. Brian Shiozawa is concerned about the poor air quality and the triple-digit temperatures.
"I just walked about from a patient who has complications from his COPD because of the smoke in the air," Shiozawa said.
Shiozawa has seen several patients with issues this week from both respiratory problems and heat exhaustion.
DEQ reports said Monday was in the yellow for particulate matter. However, Shiozawa said he expects the air to get worse.
