WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah – West Valley City Police are looking for a man they believe may have intentionally set his mobile home on fire early Monday morning.

The fire broke out around 3:30 a.m. near 2600 West and 2600 South.

Bruce Sorensen lives at Mountain View Mobile Home Park in West Valley City. He noticed a fire raging at the trailer and called for help.

“I went on the porch and I saw these flames come up and I called 911,” Sorensen said.

Within 10 minutes, West Valley City firefighters arrived at the home.

“Our station is right across the street so when they were pulling out they could see that there was a lot of fire,” said Jeff Fox, Battalion Chief of the West Valley City Fire Department.

The trailer was fully involved and flames inched closer to two other mobile homes and cars.

“There’s damage to a couple of vehicles in the driveway. It did melt a lot of the siding on both of the other units on either side but it did not extend into any other units,” Fox said.

No one was inside the home at the time of the fire. There were no reported injuries.

Investigators are calling the fire suspicious. They’re looking for an adult male who lives at the home with his mother. They believe this person of interest may have intentionally caused the fire.

“We heard that there was possibly some type of a domestic dispute going on but we don’t know that yet,” Fox said.

The trailer is a complete loss. Fire investigators estimates damages at $100,000.
