BLUFFDALE, Utah — A 16- and 17-year-old boy were thrown off of a sport bike into a canal Monday morning after running from police.

Police said an officer attempted to pull over a bullet bike without a license plate. Once the bike wouldn’t stop, the officer began to chase the bike.

A few blocks east the driver hit a cement median barrier at 1100 West 14600 South where the two were ejected from the bike, authorities said.

A medical helicopter was initially sent to rescue the individuals, but officers were able to get them out of the water as they were conscious and breathing. The two had trouble walking and were taken to a nearby hospital.

The cause of the accident is under investigation police said.
