Two juveniles in custody after man stabbed in Cedar City park

CEDAR CITY, Utah — A traffic stop on a speeding vehicle in Cedar City Friday night led to an investigation into a stabbing, and now two juveniles are behind bars.

According to the Cedar City Police Department, an officer stopped a speeding vehicle around 11:30 p.m. near Cedar City Hospital, 1303 North Main Street.

The driver was rushing to transport a friend who had been stabbed in the abdomen to the hospital. The wound is not believed to be life-threatening.

Investigators learned the adult male was stabbed during a fight at Bicentennial City Park, 660 West 1045 North. Evidence was found at the scene indicating that property was stolen during the altercation.

Two juveniles were booked into the Iron County Youth Corrections facility on robbery charges. Police state the motive for the altercation and stabbing is still under investigation, and they said further charges are possible in the case.
