DEER CREEK STATE PARK, Utah - A new zip line at Deer Creek State Park is giving visitors a birds-eye view of the reservoir. It’s the latest attraction at Zipline Utah.

The zip line course opened at Deer Creek State Park in September 2015, but the Screaming Falcon is the crowning achievement. It’s a 3,925-foot-long line over Rainbow Bay.

Jon Johnson, founder of Zipline Utah, said it’s the longest line over water in the world.

“It’s real exciting to have the full course done,” Johnson said. “It gives people a lot of options. We have five different courses now.”

Utah State parks representative Devan Chavez said it’s exciting for them too. Zipline Utah operates as a concessionaire on the park property.

Chavez said the goal is to give visitors another fun destination up Provo Canyon.

“It helps raise awareness of the park so you can come up here earlier in the day, get some zip lining done before the heat of day,” Chavez said. “And as it starts to warm up, you can head down and rent a paddle boat.”

The scenery doesn’t hurt. The Screaming Falcon hangs over 200 feet above the water.

Safety is a concern for some following a deadly sip line accident at Sundance last month. But, Johnson said, it’s something they’ve looked very closely at, installing a double locking carabineer system.

“The scenery is paramount here. You get to see the lake, the beautiful Timp Mountains in the background, fantastic views,” Johnson said. “And because you’re not worried about the safety aspect of it, you get to enjoy those views a little more.”

Zip line packages range from $24.99-$99.99.  Fore more information on booking a package, visit www.ziplineutah.com
