SALT LAKE CITY  — A 16-year-old girl is in extremely critical condition after a single-vehicle rollover crash on Interstate 80 in Salt Lake City, Tuesday evening.

The crash occurred just after 8 p.m. when a 36-year-old man was traveling back from California to Ohio with his daughter and her friend. In the area of 5600 West, Utah Highway Patrol says, the man felt a vibration in the truck and over corrected, causing the truck to roll.

The two 16-year-old girls were ejected. The man’s daughter was fully ejected and was taken by ground ambulance to Intermountain Medical Center, said Sgt. Todd Royce with Utah Highway Patrol.

The father and the friend were taken to area hospitals in serious condition but with non-life threatening injuries.

According to UHP, the driver was wearing a seat belt, but authorities believe the 16-year-old girls were not.

More information will be provided as it becomes available.
