SALT LAKE CITY — The hottest show on Broadway is coming to Utah.

“Hamilton” will be performed at the new Eccles Theater in downtown Salt Lake City during the 2017-18 season. Season ticket holders for the 2016-17 season who renew for 2017-18 will be given first dibs, MagicSpace Entertainment said. The theater was extending its box office hours this week to accommodate requests from season ticket buyers.

Information on engagement dates and single ticket sales will be announced later, organizers said.

“Salt Lake City will be one of the first cities in North America to see Hamilton outside of Broadway. This is thanks to everything our community has done to realize the dream of opening the George S. and Dolores Doré Eccles Theater,” MagicSpace Entertainment COO Steve Boulay said in a statement emailed to FOX 13. “Everyone involved in the project over the past many years should be very proud and very pleased.”

Lin-Manuel Miranda’s musical about Founding Father Alexander Hamilton has been a massive hit on Broadway, winning Best Musical at Sunday night’s Tony Awards.

Earlier this year, the Utah State Legislature passed a resolution honoring “Hamilton.”
