LOGAN, Utah — A woman accused of lying about having cancer to get money is now facing charges.

Sarah Kaufman, 24 of Cache Valley, allegedly told people she had melanoma and leukemia.

Kaufman is accused of creating an online fundraising page, seeking $5,000 in donations. She collected about $550.

The woman was arrested in May, and recently she was charged with communications fraud, which is a second-degree felony. A preliminary hearing is set for June 23.
