Son booked on suspicion of murder after missing Provo man’s body found in freezer

PROVO, Utah — Provo Police following up on a report of a missing person located the man inside a freezer Thursday, and the man’s son is now behind bars on suspicion of murder.

According to the Provo Police Department, family reported 57-year-old Marco Carmona missing Thursday around 11:23 a.m. Officers searching the man’s mobile home found Carmona’s body inside a freezer.

The victim’s son, 27-year-old Omar Carmona, was booked into the Utah County Jail around 7 p.m. on suspicion of murder.  He is also facing charges of theft and obstruction of justice.

Police said the case is still an active investigation, and a medical examiner will determine the cause of death.  Police also said they believe this is an isolated incident.

“This is a terrible incident and we extend our condolences to the family,” Provo PD stated.
