WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah – A police officer on the case of a stolen bird took it upon himself to help a heartbroken boy who lost his best friend.

West Valley Police Officer Llil was working to track down a stolen parakeet reported by its owner, 8-year-old Julian.

Officers said the boy only had little “Prieto” for a couple of days when the bird escaped, never to be seen again.

That is, until the family found an ad for what appeared to be their beloved feathered friend online.

However, the family said they had no way to prove the bird was theirs.

That’s when Officer Llil swooped in to help.

He spent his own money to buy Julian a new parakeet.

This time, “Neuvo Prieto” has its wings clipped to stay close by Julian’s side.
