Man stabbed at West Kearns Elementary playground, suspect on run

KEARNS, Utah - Unified officers are searching for a suspect after a 36-year-old man was stabbed in the back with a large knife at the West Kearns Elementary school playground.

Officers were called about the stabbing near the school at 4900 S. and 4620 W. Monday just after 11 a.m.

According to Unified Police, the man who was stabbed tried to stop an argument between another man and his girlfriend.

Authorities have not released a description of the suspect.

The name of the victim has not been released at this time.

Police said the victim had surgery for the stab wound in his back and is in serious condition.

School is not in session.
