Utah baseball beats Washington 21-7 to become Pac-12 champions

SALT LAKE CITY -- After several years at the bottom of the Pac-12 rankings, the University of Utah baseball team are now Pac-12 Champions following a decisive victory over Washington Sunday.

Utah won Sunday's match-up 21-7, securing their spot as Pac-12 champions and advancing to the NCAA playoffs.

Sunday's blowout was the third of three games against Washington in Salt Lake City. The first game went to the Huskies on Friday, as Washington won 5-4. Utah secured a victory Saturday at 12-8, with that win guaranteeing them a piece of the championship. Sunday's decisive victory secured the outright championship for the Utes.

Utah won 8 of 10 games in the Pac-12 series.

According to the University of Utah, this is the first Pac-12 Championship in a men's sport at Utah, and it is the school's third overall title since joining the league in the 2011-2012 season. Gymnastics has won two Pac-12 titles on the women's side, according to the U of U.
