PINEDALE, Wyo. — A father and son accused of kidnapping and assault in Centerville and fleeing the state last week have changed their minds and decided to waive the extradition process and go back to Utah to face charges.

On Monday, Dereck James Harrison, 22, and father Flint Wayne Harrison, 51, were seen by a judge in the circuit court in Pinedale, Wyo., and would not waive the process, requesting the right to speak to an attorney, according to a press release from Sublette County Sheriff’s Office.

At about 11 a.m. Tuesday, Flint Harrison had the opportunity to speak to an attorney and was advised to waive the extradition process, according to the release.

Later that afternoon, the Harrisons appeared before Judge Haws where they waived the process.

DJ and Flint Harrison are accused of tying up a woman and her four daughters in a basement home on May 11. That same day, the woman and her kids were able to escape.

The Harrisons then fled the state where they were later located in Pinedale, Wyo. Flint Harrison surrendered to authorities early Saturday morning and his son gave up peacefully later that night.

On Saturday, DJ Harrison’s mother, Maryann Delrymple Harrison, 45, went to Wyoming to inquire about her son. A warrant was issued for her arrest because she violated the terms of her probation when she left the state, the release states.

She appeared in court with her son and ex-husband on Monday. Maryann Harrison waived the extradition process at that time.

All three Harrisons will return to Utah within 10 business days.
